The evolution of the traditional palapa

Palapas Sintéticas de México is a Mexican company dedicated to the manufacture of synthetic palm for palapas and tropical roofs, offering high standards of safety, quality and durability.

This material emerged in the market as a response to the need to replace the natural materials traditionally used in the construction of palapas, mainly due to their flammability, susceptibility to rotting and frequent water leaks.

Previously, the only alternative available was to import synthetic palm from Canada, the United States or China. With the purpose of eliminating costs associated with handling, transportation insurance, national and international freight, and customs expenses, we made the strategic decision to produce synthetic palm in Cancun, Quintana Roo, convinced that this is the most efficient way to offer highly competitive and accessible prices, directly benefiting our customers without sacrificing material quality or performance. This decision has been widely accepted by the market.

As part of our business philosophy, and with the aim of guaranteeing our customers a fair and competitive price, we strive to maintain the integrity of the authorized sale price, carefully regulating the participation of intermediaries that could increase the product value. To achieve this, the commission generated by their participation is predefined with them and covered directly by our company.

This approach allows us to contribute significantly to the reduction of the final price we offer to hotels, restaurants, tourism developments and beach houses, under clear, reliable commercial conditions free of speculative practices.

The synthetic materials we use combine quality, aesthetics and functionality, contributing to stop devastating natural resources. We promote moral awareness for the benefit of the environment.

Any version or model of the synthetic palm we manufacture is designed to resist accidental heat sources that could cause fires, thus reducing the risk of combustion. The version reinforced with fire retardant further hinders combustion, reduces flame spread and promotes self-extinguishing in case of fire, generating low smoke emission to avoid endangering the health of people and other living beings, unlike what can occur when natural materials are used or when chemicals are excessively used in certain synthetic materials to prevent combustion.

The designs are patented before IMPI as utility models and our production processes are developed under the international standard ISO 9001:2015, which guarantees high quality standards and documented management systems, certified by an agency accredited by the Mexican Accreditation Entity (EMA) and recognized by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

We are pioneers in the manufacture of this material in the national market and as part of our growth, we have incorporated a subsidiary company that allows us to provide comprehensive service, with certified installers in remodeling and construction of new palapas.
